About the Artist
McKayla was first introduced to working with glass in 2014, while studying for a BFA in Sculpture at Massachusetts College of Art & Design. She was familiarized with a variety of materials and techniques including work with wood, metal, clay, found objects, and finally glass. Immediately mesmerized by everything this material and craft had to offer, McKayla was determined to follow this path. The constant cycle of solidity and fluidity is fascinating and so nuanced.
McKayla first ventured to MassArt with intentions of pursuing a BFA in painting. Mastering the movement and mixture of color to create depth and form was her first creative passion. The art of glassblowing has allowed her to continue those explorations in a beautiful new process.
